The former Brazilian leader has been detained after authorities concluded he posed a definite escape threat while under domestic detention.

The one-time leader was convicted of plotting a government overthrow in the ninth month and handed more than a 27-year term in incarceration, but he continued under house arrest pending legal challenges.

Top Judicial Official Alexandre de Moraes said the move to detain the septuagenarian politician was a preventative measure after fresh information came to light.

This involved trying to remove his tracking device and a summons to a public vigil that could facilitate a chance to flee".

Court Filing Details Escape Risks

In a paperwork permitting the arrest, the magistrate said information from the centre monitoring Bolsonaro's house arrest suggested the ex-president's aim to disable the surveillance device to secure accomplishment in his escape.

This, it said, would be assisted by the confusion caused by the gathering called by his offspring.

Details of Guilty Verdict

Bolsonaro was determined responsible of orchestrating a plot aimed at maintaining his control after he failed to win the 2022 election to his left-wing rival, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

At the moment, the legal team called the over 27-year sentence "absurdly excessive.

He was also prohibited from seeking elected position until twenty-sixty - a decade minus two years after the end of his sentence.

The one-time head of state called the trial a political persecution and said it was designed to prevent him running in the next presidential race.
