A group of ten convicted of cyber-bullying against Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has found guilty ten people for perpetrating the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the partner of French President, Emmanuel Macron.
The those on trial faced allegations of spreading false claims regarding her gender and sexuality, in addition to posting malicious remarks about the couple's significant age difference.
The court issued suspended jail terms of as much as eight months to the convicted individuals. The full ruling has yet to be released.
A persistent false narrative claiming that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has existed since her husband's first electoral victory in 2017.
This recent ruling in France is concurrent with the Macrons engaging in a defamation lawsuit in the US against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has likewise promoted similar conspiracy theories about the Brigitte Macron's gender.
Their legal filing states that Owens disregarded all credible evidence disproving her claim choosing instead to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has regularly repeated these assertions on her podcast and social media channels, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her insistence that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron initially encountered her future husband when she worked as an educator at his secondary school.
The pair married in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was in her mid-50s.
